Acute Medicine UltraSound & ECHO (AMUSE)

The course will cover the following topics, via a combination of interactive lectures/case-based discussions and smaller group breakout sessions with hands-on:

  • Principles and applications of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in acute medicine. 
  • Focused cardiac ultrasound and ECHO assessment.
  • Lung and thoracic ultrasound in acute respiratory conditions. 
  • Integrated bedside ultrasound assessment for shock, dyspnoea and chest pain.
  • Hands-on ultrasound scanning and case-based interpretation in acute care.

Introduction The Acute Medicine Ultrasound & ECHO (AMUSE) Workshop is a full-day course designed for Advanced Trainees/Consultants and Senior Respiratory Therapists who routinely use bedside ultrasound to assess and manage acutely ill patients with respiratory, cardiac and haemodynamic conditions.
