Pre-Conference Workshops
Arterial Blood Gas (ABG)
The course will cover the following topics via a combination of interactive lectures/case-based discussions and smaller group breakout sessions with hands-on:
1. Understanding the principles of arterial blood gas analysis
2. Systematic interpretation of ABG results
Assessment of pH, PaCO₂, HCO₃⁻, PaO₂ and oxygenation
3. Identification of common acid–base disorders
4. Clinical application of ABG interpretation
Using ABG findings to guide diagnosis and management of critically ill patients.
Case-based interpretation of ABGs in common ICU scenarios
5. Practical aspects of ABG sampling, interpretation and avoidance of common error.
